His innovative use of mixed media and the effect of aging that he creates add charm to his works. In the context of modern living his works reflects the olden days. The quaint setting with the bicycle in some of his images brings back fond memories of many.

Description:
Lazim Ismail (born in 1963) is a renowed BATIK artist with more than 30 years experience. He is known for his unique style of 'painting-cracking', a tedious technique using at least 9 layers of colours, which has won him numerous local awards. Over the years, he has held many solo batik exhibitions in Malaysia, Brunei and New Zealand. Currently, he conducts batik painting workshops at the National Craft Complex, Kuala Lumpur, where he also manages a shop selling his own paintings. Lazim is also the 2005 National Champion in Batik Hibiscus Competition.

Description:
Masjid Jamek is the first brick mosque in the city. It was constructed on the first Malay Burial Ground in Kuala Lumpur. Feature Moghul architecture and heritage, it has three Moghul domes, a courtyard, minarets set at a symmetrical composition of the mosque and smaller chhatris surrounding it. Today, this mosqur is the only place in Kuala Lumpur where coconut trees still survive the onslaught of modernity to give the place a countryside feeling.

Bubongan Dua Belas

"Bubongan Dua Belas" is a very rare example of Brunei traditional architecture. Bubongan Dua Belas has existed for almost 100 years as one of the oldest surviving buildings in Brunei Darussalam. The building was used as the home of British Residents in Brunei from 1907 up to 1959 and by the British High Commissioner from 1960 to 1984.
